My name is Kaya Simmons I am an emerging cinematographer and established poetry performance artist. I am eager to further my experience on film sets, create a network of like-minded creatives who too enjoy creating vulnerable and distinguishable art. My love for the environment fuels my work as nature can often be found at the center of what I do.
Within the film industry I have experience working on local short film sets as both a PA and as a 2nd AD. I have completed one year of a Literary and Cultural Analysis Major at the University of Amsterdam where I gained a multitude of knowledge on film and cultural theory. I have also completed a variety of short term photography and film courses at local art studios and the MICA college in Maryland. Now, I own a small business "The Modest Minimalist", a professional decluttering coaching service. Through this work over the past two years I have gained immense experience in working in chaotic and fast paced environments, managing client emotions and sudden shifts in goals, as well coordination as a business owner in order to promote and run the back end. I am very passionate about sustainability and therefore I also have experience working as an intern at the NYLCV, where my role included drafting email blasts, running errands, making hundreds of phone calls a day, as well as scouting potential political candidates to endorse.
