With a land area of 167 acres, James J. Braddock Park is one of the largest and most beautiful of Hudson County’s parks. The park is home to the 16-acre Woodcliff Lake and has an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline. It offers an impressive array of forty-five various athletic facilities, as well as a variety of natural features. Easily accessible with something for everybody, Hudson County residents can’t miss out on this gem atop the cliffs of the Palisades.

The park, formerly known as North Hudson Park, was established in 1910. It was renamed to honor James J. Braddock, World Heavyweight Boxing Champion from 1935 to 1937. A long-time resident of Hudson County, this “Cinderella Man” was an inspiration to the people of the area, especially during the Great Depression. The park also features the historic former Superintendent’s building. This ornate structure, which is highlighted by classic arches and columns, recently received $100,000 in funds for historic preservation and restoration.
Athletes flock to James J. Braddock Park! It offers an impressive array of lighted sports fields and courts including 21 tennis courts, three basketball courts, three bocce courts, handball courts, three football fields, six volleyball courts, a little league field, and an exercise/cross country course. This Hudson County Park also welcomes the littlest of its residents to enjoy the assortment of playground equipment in the children’s area.

At this County park, you can enjoy the tranquility and beauty of its arboretum, while learning about the diverse tree species within the park. The park is also home to nature trails, picnic areas, and a dog run. You can take in the sights within the park and the exquisite view from the cliffs along the 8 miles of walkways. on the island in the lake. On an island in the middle of the lake, the County maintains a Natural Wildlife Sanctuary that supports breeding.
